You Ask - I Answer
How much does each session cost?
Sessions are $125 for a 50 minute session. For those who need extra financial help, I have a limited number of reduced rate slots available.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance at this time for a few different reasons:
· In order to use insurance, you must have a diagnosis. This has never sat well with me. This means you aren't covered because you're having a difficult time, grieving, or looking to make changes in your life. Also, this diagnosis follows you on an official and permanent record. In the future, insurance companies may see this as a "pre-existing condition" if you ever have to look for your own coverage.
· Your records are much less private. Your insurance company can audit your records whenever they want. A claims specialist can receive details of your file that you might not want shared.
· The insurance company decides how much therapy you need and what kind. Many insurance companies only cover a handful of sessions, assuming then you'll be "cured". This, unfortunately, is just not how things work. Therapy is a process that requires time and effort. Additionally, the insurance company may require the therapist to use a type of therapy that may not work for you.
